Hello everybody,
I have a 2011 M8. The little clutching chart inside of it says that it comes setup for 6,000-9,000 feet. This means it has a drive clutch arm at 68 grams model # 0746-703. The other option it shows on here is for 9,000 feet and higher and it would be a drive clutch arm at 63 grams with model #0746-694.

So here's my deal. I almost never drive below 7,000 feet. I never do any real riding below 7,500 and really never any real riding below 8,000. I probably do the majority of my riding between 8,000 and 9,500 feet, but I go as high as 10,700.

Is there some setup like a 65 or 66 gram weight that might be ideal for the range of about 7,500 to 10,500? Am I even thinking about this correctly to be in the right ballpark?

67 gram weights and a Dalton Aqua/black spring with stock secondary works really good on that sled in the conditions you outlined.

I had several sets of 67's and just ground them down to 64.5, I was going to go 65 but must have sneezed as I was grinding the last weight and had to re-do the other two! Actually ended up about perfect! If I had not been so cheap, buying the daltons would have been the way to go...still might!

Either Cutler or Dalton adjustable weights are the way to go if you want to get it dialed in perfectly.

spring?

Thanks guys for the replies.

@racinstation - Why do you say I should replace the spring? The little chart says that I have the right spring in there already for both 6,000-9,000 as well as 9,000+.

@diggerdown - I definitely am not going to grind them down myself, I certainly don't have the tools or know-how for that. You are suggesting Daltons - why would I get that instead of just the normal arctic cat ones?

@Rixster - adjustable? How does that work?

Spring tension plays a role in the RPM as well as weight changes. Dalton and Cutler adjustable weights are better for tuning because you can add and remove set screws to achieve the desired weight instead of having to change weights out. A lot more cost effective and less time involved when tuning.
