2006 M7 163 Diamond Drive Replacement

We are going to change out the Diamond Drive as an assembly. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to lowering the gear ratio? Is this something that can be done? The M7 has a pipe, y-pipe, and silencer for mods. Thanks for the help :face-icon-small-hap

The next lowest ratio available is 55/65 2.65 ratio. the stock m7 comes with a 57/63 2.48 ratio.

I geared my 05 m7 to 54/66 giving 2.74. You have to do some internal grinding to the case cover because of gear dia. no big deal. 153 power claw track, 9 to 12000 ft. elevation of riding. Pulls fine. Slp canister. No other extras.

I changed my bone stock M7 153 to the 55/65 when the original DD took a dump. We ride 9-12k ft, I couldn't really tell much difference honestly but the cost was the same so I went with the lower ratio.

You can change the gear ratio in those dirves, but it depends on how/where you're riding if it would be an advantage for you. Usually some clutch modifications can help meet your riding needs much more then a gear ratio change.

55/65 Act Drive change results

Next too composite disc brake rotor, it has been the best seat of the pants result that we have done to our M7s. You will need to add more weight to your primary clutch ramps. Also we changed the helix from 36 to 42-36.
